Welcome to sons of Thunder lifting co.
Prior to 2020, I struggled immensely with my body weight. I had a poor relationship with food and an awful image of myself. Since then I have learned about myself, my feelings, and why I struggle with these things; now, I help others to find out their reasons; I use my experience with these things combined with my knowledge and understanding of movement, exercise, and diet to create a unique fitness experience designed to challenge people and change lives at any stage.
While losing 160lbs on my own fitness journey, I’ve helped hundreds of others do the same as a NASM personal trainer. By helping people hit their goals and change their lives, I hope to help as many people as possible to live their lives to the fullest.
I prioritize the individual and their health- both mental and physical- and do my absolute best to create plans to create long lasting transformation in individuals.
CORE VALUES
1. Life to the Fullest
We believe that we should all live our lives to the fullest- fitness, faith, food, fun, and family are all elements of that.
2. We can do it
We believe that there isn’t anyone who “can’t work out” Yes, there are different levels, but everyone can take steps to grow and become just a little healthier.
3. Joy in struggle
Creating lasting change can be hard- especially changing a lifestyle that we have built over many years, but we take joy in both the successes and the failures and see them as an opportunity to learn and grow.
4. respect the individual
In a world where the fitness space has become incredibly toxic, we recognize that everyone is unique with their own story, background, and pain. We believe that no matter where an individual is coming from, they deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and kindness.
Testimonials
Not sure what to think? Take the word of just a few people who have seen lasting life change:
“I needed guidance and support, as I reached a plateau that lasted months. Thanks to Jim, I found what I was missing. He helped me with accountability, writing/tracking my food intake and exercises. Learing more about healthier alternatives and ratios (such as protein to calories). How to effectively use strength training and the long-term benefits. Most importantly, it's about a balance of body, mind, and spirit and nurturing these by escaping dangerous habits, like emotional eating and others. Just like he has helped me, he can help you in a holistic way. Trust me, we all need a buddy/coach in this journey. It makes it easier!!”

“Having a personal trainer like Jim gives you an opportunity to get stronger, healthier, more confident and over all feeling better.”

“When I started working out, I didn't know what to do, especially with upper body exercises. The machines bored me and I would get discouraged easily. I started with Jim saying my goal was to get toned and to feel better about myself, which at that point I hadn't felt good about myself in a while. Jim listened to what I liked to do working out, and what I struggled with. He made a workout plan that I ended up really enjoying, and I started seeing some results relatively quickly. I saw the weights I was lifting and working with going up, and I started to get more confidence in myself. After a few months I am seeing that I am toning up how I wanted, and I feel so much better about myself. I am now looking in the mirror feeling happy, and not pointing out everything I want to change. Jim motivated me to work hard and push through when the workouts became tough. He has been supportive and made me realize that my best may look different sometimes and that is okay. He created a workout plan that allows me and my husband to work together, and we are both seeing results we wanted. We now look forward to going to the gym even if the workouts aren't our favorite exercises. Jim has been so supportive and understanding when work or being sick keeps us from our appointments. He has been so wonderful to work with and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to start a healthier lifestyle!”

“Jim makes the sessions challenging, but not past my limits. He’s probably the only reason I show up to the gym most of the time. I have enjoyed and appreciated all the help Jim gives me with teaching new exercises and showing me stretches after the workout. I would highly recommend training with Jim to anyone, no matter your skill level. When I first joined, I was newer to strength training/going to a gym. But none of the sessions are intimidating and I know there’s no judgment from him if I have questions. I’m looking forward to continuing to my progress.”

“Fitness and health have been a struggle for me most of my life, but I’ve never felt better than when working with Jim. He created workouts that fit my schedule and were designed to get the highest impact for the time spent working out by strategically coming up with a plan, rather than me just randomly choosing exercises on my own. Jim also gave me some helpful nutritional tips and tricks that felt doable and sustainable to help me on my health journey. The encouragement, accountability, and support Jim provided allowed me to stay consistent and I’ve been so much more successful in progressing towards my health goals when working with Jim than when going at it alone. He is friendly, knowledgeable, and compassionate, and will take the time to understand you and your goals, and help you take that next step towards your goals in a healthy and accessible way. I highly recommend working with Jim if you’d like to grow in health and fitness and have been struggling on your own, or if you’re just ready to take it to the next level!

When I first met Jim I had just completed chemotherapy for breast cancer. Our first meeting was January 8, 2024. I was so weak. I was dehydrated and suffering from severe malnutrition. Pretty scary! I only had a couple of goals. One goal was to be strong enough to walk up the stairs so I could sleep in my bed and the other more important goal was to be strong enough to hold my new grand baby. When Jim came in the door I was shocked at what I could not do. I was so weak from the cancer treatments. I could only cross my right ankle over my left ankle 3 times. Using a walker I struggled to get out of a chair. 3 lifts exhausted me. Jim was patient and encouraging. Time passed and Jim had set up a recovery plan for me. I listened and did everything that he told me to do. Once in a while he revised an exercise to meet my needs but I kept trying. Before long I was going up and down the stairs safely. It took a little longer for my grand baby because she kept growing! February 16 I had surgery. I was a little discouraged because I had worked so hard and was so much stronger. Jim did not let me get discouraged. He told me I was stronger now and it will come back. He was right. Soon after surgery I was back with minor adjustments to my routine. April 1 l started 33 days straight of radiation. That wasn’t too bad but I did miss a few days of exercising because I was just tired. With Jim’s encouragement I powered through. Today I am stronger than before I started my cancer journey. I walk 4 miles every day and rarely miss exercising. And yes I have no problem holding my grand baby!.
